Waiting for a response from MARVAD or Sabar Medical — what to do when your case is delayed

Translation published: 15 October 2026

Completed examinations but still waiting?

Waiting for a summons or a driving-fitness decision can affect work and daily life. Before enquiring again, identify the stage: awaiting an examination, supplying documents, medical assessment or Licensing Authority processing. This guide offers an organised way to enquire; it does not establish a binding processing time for an individual case.

How long should you wait?

This guide cannot promise one number of days for everyone. Waiting may vary with the stage, further examinations and the completeness of documents. Establish when the referral arrived, when the last examination took place and when the final requested document was received. Time passing alone does not show that the case is complete or decided.

First identify the stage

Ask specific questions: Was the referral received? Was a summons sent? Have all documents been received and linked to the case? Is another examination required? Is medical assessment complete? Has the recommendation reached the Licensing Authority? Distinguish the medical recommendation from the licensing decision, which is made by the Licensing Authority.

Where can you check progress?

Start with the contact details in your summons or latest notice. Official Ministry of Transport information states that application status, information and documents can be viewed in MARVAD’s personal area. For Sabar cases, the Ministry of Health publishes the hotline *8946. Use current official channels and verify that you are contacting the body handling your case; not all cases follow the same route.

Told a document is missing after sending it?

Gather the document, submission date and delivery confirmation, and ask whether it was linked to the correct case. Clarify exactly what is missing, the period it must cover and the submission channel. Retain the instructions and any resubmission. Do not send sensitive medical data to an unverified address.

Send an organised written enquiry

Include the identification required by the official channel, case number if known, referral and examination dates, completion of documents and a summary of previous enquiries. Request receipt confirmation, details of outstanding action and an update on next steps. Explain any impact on employment or an essential need factually, with relevant evidence. This does not guarantee priority.

What if there is no substantive response?

Consider contacting the responsible supervisor or appropriate public-enquiries channel, attaching the earlier enquiry and delay record. If a substantial time has passed without a clear explanation, seek an individual legal assessment. Whether another procedure is appropriate, whom to address and what remedy to request depends on the case; not every delay warrants court proceedings.

May you drive while waiting?

Waiting is neither permission to drive nor proof that a licence has been cancelled. Check validity, restrictions and individual notices. Do not disregard a disqualification, suspension or restriction because medical processing is incomplete. If uncertain, clarify the licence status with the Licensing Authority before driving.

A delay differs from a negative decision

If a decision affecting the licence has already been delivered, check the challenge route and applicable deadline. Do not assume an enquiry, complaint or wait for documents suspends an appeal deadline. Without a decision, the focus is progress and completion; with a decision, examine its substance and possible challenge too.
